Neil Shewchuk
Neil is a graduate of the Radio and Television Arts Program at NAIT, back when they used cassettes and vinyl.
Born and raised in Edmonton, I also spent 26 years working On Air and in sales at CJVR in Melfort Saskatchewan. While in Saskatchewan I spent many years as the voice of the University of Saskatchewan Huskie Football Team, the SJHL’s Melfort Mustangs, Nipawin Hawks and Humboldt Broncos. In 2014 I was inducted as a broadcaster into the SJHL Hall of Fame.
Married to Gwen, I am also a dad with two grown daughters and a grandpa. When not at the office I cheer on the Edmonton Oilers, enjoys all music and golf. If you want to lower your score golf with Neil as I have been heard to say “Pick it up you have been sinking those all year”.
Neil moved to Whitecourt in 2006 where he is the Station Manager/Sales Manager at CIXM-FM. A committed volunteer with the Chamber of Commerce and other local groups, Neil works to grow local business and convince all to shop local.
Harold Lowe
When broadcasters get together and talk “shop”, the conversations usually start out “well, I got my start at a 10,000-watt station in Ontario and then…….”. That’s my story, graduated from the Marketing Program at Algonquin College in Ottawa and joined the staff at CJET in Smiths Falls, promoted to Sales Manager 3 years later. After an 8-year gig I was Alberta Bound, accepting a position with CKGY in Red Deer. Spent many years presenting radio to advertising agencies in Edmonton and Calgary. Back into local radio in Red Deer moving around to a couple different broadcasters. The opportunity came up to get back with Jim Pattison Broadcast Group here at Big West Country 92.9fm. I had nothing to do with my “spare” time, so I joined the military serving as a Reserve Army Officer for over 20 years. Love AC/DC, Bag Pipes and the Canadian comedian Derek Edwards. My wife Cindy and I have 2 girls and 2 of the greatest Grandchildren on the planet.
