Whitecourt’s Rotary Park will soon be getting a new name.
Whitecourt town council, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Whitecourt, have been working to rebrand Rotary Park into Festival Park
“There was an issue with Rotary International,” says Whitecourt Mayor, Tom Pickard. “It has to do with branding and logo rules for Rotary International. So unless the site is controlled or solely owned by Rotary Club, they don’t want Rotary on that name. They feel that is not consistent with their international branding, despite the fact that Rotary Club has been an amazing partnership with the Town. So we worked with Rotary to come up with a name that included their partnership and sponsorship and that is where Festival Park, supported by local Rotary Club came from.”
Officials state signage will be changed throughout the summer as it is designed and received. Town officials say Zainoon Halabi will be operating Sisters Sweet Treats out of the concession building this year and will be providing a variety of hot and cold options such as tacos, burgers, pizza by the slice, frozen treats, ice cream, chips, and candy bars. Lakeside Rentals will be offering kayak and stand up paddleboard rentals out of a self-dispensing kayak and paddleboard shelter.
All equipment rentals come with life jackets and safety equipment as per federal water safety regulations. Town officials say the highly anticipated Jumbo Jumper has been shipped and will be installed this spring, which will provide another option for all ages at Festival Park. It’s further noted, ,Festival Way is fully complete, and has broadened opportunities for local special events and bookings at Rotary Park.
Council will be marketing Festival Way throughout the year to businesses and local organizations.
