Make sure your snow shovels are at the ready. Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for:
- M.D. of Big Lakes near Swan Hills
- M.D. of Greenview near Fox Creek
- Woodlands Co. near Benbow and Windfall
- Woodlands Co. near Carson-Pegasus Prov. Park
- Woodlands Co. near Goose Lake
- Woodlands Co. near Whitecourt and Blue Ridge
- Yellowhead Co. near Edson and Sundance Prov. Park
- Yellowhead Co. near Peers and Niton Junction
Environment Canada is predicting between 20 and 35 cm of snow between now and Thursday morning.
According to Environment Canada, the snow will start around Grande Prairie, then head southeast towards Whitecourt. The majority of the snow will hit the Whitecourt and Edson region around Wednesday morning.
Environment Canada suggests you consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.
You can stay up-to-date on Environment Canada’s weather alerts for the region at the Environment Canada website.
