The Town of Edson has raised $28,000 in its inaugural Mayor’s Charity Golf Tournament.
Edson Mayor Kevin Zahara was the host of the tournament on June 24, 2022. Zahara had the idea to hold the tournament to give back to the community and have some fun after the pandemic.
“From day one, we had a tremendous response from Edson residents and businesses for the event,” said Zahara in a statement. “From the sponsors to the golfers, everyone was very generous to the cause.”
The beneficiary of the charity tournament is the Edson Seniors Transportation Society (ESTS). ESTS is currently raising funds to purchase a third bus for their program.
116 golfers came out to the event, raising $23,000. TC Energy then donated an additional $5000.
Zahara hopes the tournament will become an annual event, and support a different organization in the Edson area each year.
