The Town of Whitecourt is helping local neighbourhoods get out and mingle once again.
The Town has a series of Park Parties planned for the summer.
These events take place in many of the smaller parks around Whitecourt. They will have many activities for the whole family. Plus, community services like the Whitecourt Fire Department and RCMP will be on hand.
Whitecourt mayor Tom Pickard shares that this plan grew out of the Town’s old block party program.
“Separate communities within town have been restricted in a lot of things due to the past couple of years of COVID, and this is a great opportunity for the Town to promote communities and to get people out,” says Pickard.
The first one is set for June 22, 2022 at Wedow Park in Whitecourt. It begins at 5:30 p.m.
Pickard hopes there will be a good turnout.
“I think we have all had enough of being locked up, or cooped up, or whatever word you want,” jokes Pickard. “I think people are just looking forward to a chance to get some normalcy back in their life.”
More Park Parties are already scheduled for July and August. You can get more information at the Town of Whitecourt website.
