Motorists on Alberta’s highways will soon be enjoying more comfortable rest stops.
The Province of Alberta has announced that 10 highway rest areas across the province are getting upgrades. Among the upgrades are adding flush toilets.
Two of the rest areas are along Highway 43. The rest area two kilometres east of Mayerthorpe in the eastbound lane, and the one five point five kilometres east on Sangudo, in the westbound lane, will be getting the upgrades.
In a statement, Shane Getson, MLA for Lac Ste. Anne-Parkland, said these upgrades will give tourists a better first impression.
“Upgrading our rest stops will go a long way to not only providing a clean and more modernized convenience, it will help ensure the first impressions we leave with visitors are good ones, and that they will tell others of why they should visit Alberta,” shared Getson
Two more of the rest areas scheduled for upgrades are the Nojack rest areas along Highway 16. The West Nojack rest area is one kilometre east of Nojack in the westbound lane. The East Nojack rest area is seven kilometres west of Nojack in the eastbound lane.
In a statement, Martin Long, MLA for West Yellowhead, said these upgrades will make the Yellowhead Highway safer and cleaner.
“Whether you are travelling for work, or taking a road trip with family, you deserve to have confidence in Alberta’s roadside services,” explained Long.
The renovations are slated to begin this summer.
