Whitecourt golfers are going to have some extra divots to play around.
The Whitecourt Golf and Country Club is reporting on their Facebook page that some golfers vandalized the golf course on May 12, 2022.
The damage includes divots taken out of the greens, and more than 60 rope stakes intentionally run over resulting in damage to a golf cart.
Golf course general manager Andy Nielsen tells us that, sadly, this kind of incident happens around three or four times per year.
“I have been at this for 20 years, and this happens all the time, and it is just disrespectful,” laments Nielsen.
Since the Facebook post went up, Nielsen shares that the golf course has been flooded with tips as to who the culprits may be.
“We hope that the rest of the players police everyone else and let us know, and that is all we can really do,” says Nielsen.
Luckily, the damage is not bad enough that the golf course needs to close. The golf course officially opened for the season on April 28, 2022.
