Eastlink Park is working to make skiing more affordable.
The Whitecourt ski hill has announced they will not be raising the price of season passes for the 2022-2023 ski season.
Merv Hilland, one of the directors of Eastlink Park, says their supporters wanted to see the ski hill kept affordable, so they did their best to do it.
“All our sponsors, and the Town and the County, said ‘Keep those rates affordable,’ and I think we can do it,” says Hilland.
Hilland says another thing that helps is the schools are starting to come back.
“The phone has been ringing off the hook from the schools, asking to come up and enjoy Eastlink, so we’ll have them come out on Fridays so we can actually open on Fridays,” says Hilland.
On select Fridays, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., you will be able to head to the hill and get some skiing in alongside the school groups. Eastlink hopes to add at least 10 more School Fridays to their calendar in the 2022-23 season. Keep an eye on the Eastlink Park website and Facebook pages for details.
With the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, Eastlink Park has also re-opened their chalet for limited use. The chalet has had restricted access for the past two years, so Eastlink Park compensated by adding more outdoor shelters and fire pits.
Ski passes for the 2022-23 ski season will be going on sale on Saturday, Mar. 5. You will also be able to use them for the remainder of the 2021-22 season, in order to maximize your enjoyment. Passes for the remainder of the 2021-22 season are also available at a discounted rate.
