Woodlands County is getting ready to update its road allowances policies.
At the County’s Jan. 19 meeting, council directed administration to start updating Policy 3209, which is the licensing of road allowances. The County’s current policy was adopted in 1994, and has not been updated since.
The top recommendation is the elimination of road allowance licenses. The current license fee is $30 per year for the first half-mile, and an additional $10 for each subsequent half-mile.
Currently, the County has licenses with 18 parties spread across 55 locations, for an annual revenue of $915.
The proposed new policy will eliminate licensing fees in the next two years.
Administration will now get to work developing the new policy, to be brought to County council for final approval at a future date.
