Tyler Olsen has been elected reeve of the Municipal District of Greenview.
Olsen is councillor for Ward 9, and was selected for reeve at Greenview’s organizational meeting Oct. 26.
Olsen is serving his second term as a councillor. He joined Greenview’s council in Jan. 2019, following the dissolution of the Town of Grande Cache. Olsen is a long-time resident of Grande Cache, spending 17 years there as a volunteer firefighter in the community.
In a statement, Olsen said he is honoured to have the support of council.
“We plan to work together to move forward with continued improvements to Greenview economic development, infrastructure, roads, and investment in our communities,” said Olsen.
Also at the organizational meeting, Bill Smith was elected deputy reeve.
Smith is starting his third term as councillor for Ward 8, and his second term as deputy reeve.
Smith comes from a multi-generational ranching family and has strong community ties. He spent his career as a self-employed tradesman working in the region and maintaining his family ranch before first running for office in 2013.
In a statement, Smith thanked council for their confidence.
“I have seen many changes in my short political time,” said Smith. “It is a steep learning curve but very rewarding, and I am looking forward to working with both returning councillors and our newly elected members of council.”
