Some tough results for the Whitecourt Wolverines over the Halloween weekend.
The team lost 4-3 to the Olds Grizzlys on Friday, before dropping another one to Drumheller Saturday, with both games on the road.
Friday’s game saw the Wolverines get out to a great start, scoring three unanswered goals in the opening period.
It began with Tristan Slywka scoring his third of the season, just 1:31 into the game with help from Mason Russell and Hunter Ashton to make it 1-0 for the visitors.
Kyle Tucker then made it 2-0 for the Wolverines a short time later when he netted his sixth goal of the season at 2:38, with Ty Rayan and Taite Donkin picking up the assists.
Taite Donkin would pad that lead to 3-0 when he scored his first of the season at 3:31, while on the powerplay, following a hooking penalty to the Grizzlys Hubert Larose. Spencer Claerhout and Ty Rayan assisted on the play.
Despite the quick start for Whitecourt, it was all Grizzlys from the second period onward.
Olds clawed their way back with one goal in the middle frame and three more in the third, including one on the powerplay, to skate away with a 4-3 victory.
Grizzlys goaltender Ryan Burroughs stopped 30 of 33 shots on the evening, while Whitecourt netminder Jesse Sanche stopped 29 of 33.

Drumheller then went up 3-1 before Whitecourt responded again to make it 3-2 after 40 minutes.
The Wolverines Mason Russell scored his third of the season, thanks to helpers from Brady Gamble and Jackson DeGraves to pull the visitors to within one.
The third period saw the home team pick up two more goals to make it a 5-2 final.
