The Town of Whitecourt is offering an update on the construction on Dahl Drive.
Construction on the Dahl Drive Improvement Project is progressing on schedule. Crews are currently working on the underground storm sewer, and will begin concrete work next week.
• Starting July 19 through to August 25, Dahl Drive between 41 Avenue and 49 Avenue will be reduced to single lane traffic in each direction (the outer lanes will be closed). Speed will be reduced to 50 kilometers/hour for the duration of the work, and motorists are asked to drive with caution and watch for posted signs and instructions.
• A portion of 41 Avenue (west of the Dahl Drive intersection) will remain closed. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes in the area.
• The Dahl Drive Trail remains open to pedestrian traffic; however, trail users are asked to use caution. During construction hours, and crew member will be onsite to assist with pedestrian traffic flow. Portions of the trail pavement have also been removed as part of the underground storm sewer preparation, and the trail surface is uneven. Please watch for and obey all posted signs.
Crews will be onsite Monday through Saturday from 7:00am to 7:00pm (weather permitting). Community members should be aware that there may be traffic delays, and are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible.
This is the biggest road construction project undertaken in our community this year, and we realize this project has had an impact on our residents. The Town of Whitecourt appreciates your understanding and patience throughout this project.
Regular construction updates will continue to be posted online at www.whitecourt.ca and on the Town’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/TownofWhitecourt.
