An Edson resident has been arrested and charged following an investigation into a report of stolen tools.
On Aug. 15, Edson RCMP’s newest recruit responded to a report that tools were stolen from a garage in the 41 Street area in Edson.
Surveillance data from multiple neighbours and community members allowed the officer to identify a vehicle and several suspects allegedly involved in the incident.
Officers then executed a search warrant at a residence in the Sunset Estate Trailer Park area. As a result, police say stolen items from at least six previous files were recovered and will be returning to their rightful owners.
A 29-year-old male Edson resident has been charged with:
- Mischief x4
- Possession of property obtained by crime x4
- Theft over $5,000
- Theft under $5,000
- Break and enter
He was also reportedly arrested on warrants for failing to attend court and uttering threats.
The individual was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. He was scheduled to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Whitecourt on Aug. 25.
A second individual was also arrested and released, and their charges are pending in court.
The Edson RCMP says the investigation is ongoing and that further updates are anticipated.
