Edson RCMP is seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect allegedly connected to a break-in.
The detachment responded to a report of a residential break-in on Aug. 5.
Police say an unknown number of suspects arrived at the residence in what appeared to be a grey Pontiac Vibe with roof racks and a skirt. Camera footage reportedly showed one male suspect wielding an axe before breaking into the unoccupied residence.
The suspect is described as:
- Light complexion
- Wearing a ball cap, grey army print T-shirt, dark pants and dark shoes
One item was reported stolen from inside the home: a set of keys for a red Kawasaki quad. The quad was also stolen.
Then, on Aug. 22, Edson RCMP received a report of an abandoned quad that appeared to have been in a collision near 62 Street and 17 Avenue in Edson.
The quad was recovered, and police found some personal belongings with it. With the assistance of Edson Forensic Identification Services, the items are being tested in an effort to determine a positive DNA match for the suspect.
The RCMP is seeking any home or dash camera footage from around the area of the alleged collision that may help them identify the suspect.
