Mayerthorpe town council has proposed a bylaw that would alter the size of council beginning at the next municipal general election.
If passed, Bylaw No. 1215 would reduce the number of councillors from six to four, changing the total number of seats from seven to five.
A copy of the proposed bylaw is available at the town’s office for public review.
Any resident who claims to be affected prejudicially by the proposed bylaw amendment may submit their concerns in writing or request to speak before council. Submissions must be made by 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 14.
That day, council will meet for second reading of the bylaw. A public hearing will also be held at 7 p.m.
First reading was passed by council during its regularly scheduled meeting on Aug. 10.
