Seventy-five years of memories, friendship, and outdoor recreation are being celebrated at Surprise Lake Camp (53112 RR 153 Yellowhead County), east of Edson this weekend.
The camp has been part of the Edson area community since 1951, and from Aug. 7–9, 2026, those celebrations are open to everyone—whether you’ve been connected to the camp for decades or are visiting for the very first time.
Organizers note, all events are free.
The weekend will feature campfires, canoeing, hiking, nature activities, crafts, storytelling, camp tours, singing, and opportunities to simply relax and enjoy the area. Free camping is available, along with free supper on Saturday and a free breakfast on Sunday. Day visitors are also warmly welcome.
Officials say registration is appreciated to help them plan meals and accommodations.
