Firefighters from Whitecourt and the Edson Forest Area are joining the effort to battle wildfire blazes in British Columbia.
Alberta Wildfires says the local groups will join a crew from Calgary, a provincial airtanker group and a hoist crew from Edmonton in their interprovincial efforts.
The hoist crew is made up of five individuals, while the Whitecourt, Edson and Calgary crews each consist of 20 people.
Multiple wildfires sprang up or intensified in B.C. over the weekend, including the Pear Lake and Fiftynine Creek blazes, which damaged homes and structures in the Village of Clinton.
According to the B.C. Wildfire Service dashboard, 137 fires are burning in the province, 51 of which are classified as out of control.
