A trial date has been scheduled for a Swan Hills resident charged following a break-in investigation last year.
Kelly Verne Stenberg, 50, is scheduled to stand trial in Barrhead Court of Justice on Sept. 10, 2026, at 10 a.m..
On Nov. 1, 2025, Swan Hills RCMP received a report that around 4:15 a.m., a man had allegedly broken into a residence while occupants were asleep.
Police say the man caused damage and threatened the occupants, including threats to kill their dogs. One resident was allegedly assaulted as they attempted to get the man to leave.
RCMP say the man was known to the residents, as his son had attended a party at the residence the night before, where an accident had occurred, but was reportedly resolved by those involved.
As a result of an investigation into the incident, Stenberg was arrested and charged with:
- Break and enter
- Assault
- Uttering threats to kill animals
- Mischief under $5,000
