Whitecourt residents can celebrate Pride Month at Pembina Pipeline’s fifth annual Pride Event taking place June 5.
It runs from 4-7 p.m. in Festival Park, and the Town of Whitecourt is providing free transit services to the event.
This year’s community partners include the town, Woodlands County, the Whitecourt and District Public Library, Wellspring Family Resource and Crisis Centre, the Whitecourt Indigenous Friends Society, No Frills, and Alberta Health Services.
“Over the years, it’s just been overwhelming support from everybody involved,” commented Riley Hogburg, of Pembina Pipelines.
Attendees can enjoy a free barbecue of burgers and hot dogs, and participate in a variety of crafts and activities celebrating the local 2SLGBTQ+ community.
This is Pembina Pipeline’s fifth year heading the local Pride celebration. On the inspiration for its creation, representative Darren Bush said, “We just wanted to create a welcoming, community-focused event that everybody felt included and welcomed.”
