Youth Week 2026 gets underway May 1-8 in the town of Whitecourt.
Organized by the Whitecourt Youth Advisory Committee, events running throughout the week will be open to all youth in Grades 6-12.
All week, transit services and drop-in sports at the Allan and Jean Millar Centre will be free for this age group.
The committee will also pop into various locations throughout the week with freebies, prizes, giveaways and more.
Friday (May 1)
For this treat day, youth can stop in at the McDonald’s or Hilltop Tim Hortons from 3:30-5 p.m. for a free treat, prizes, giveaways and more information about the rest of the week.
From 7:30-9:30 p.m. that evening, young residents can enjoy a free pool party featuring music, prizes and games at the Allan and Jean Millar Centre.
Saturday (May 2)
For youth and families of all ages, a Bike and Barbecue event runs from 1-4 p.m. at the curling rink parking lot.
Attendees can try out the obstacle course, learn tips and tricks for tuning up their bike and enjoy other biking games and activities. There will also be food, prizes and music.
Monday (May 4)
Teens ages 13-15 who have completed Weight Training for Teens are invited to build on those skills in the next module: Weight Training for Teens 2.0. This free event runs from 4-5 p.m. at the Allan and Jean Millar Centre, and registration is required.
The Whitecourt and District Public Library is also hosting Teen and Tween Night from 6-7:30 p.m. Attendees will make flower bookmarks in a “Petals to Pages” workshop.

Tuesday (May 5)
The Drop Spot encourages youth to drop in and see everything it has to offer, including e-sports, arcade games, air hockey, board games and more.
Wednesday (May 6)
Whether you’re a beginner or experienced player, youth have a chance to develop their skills with Whitecourt Warriors Minor Soccer. Attendees will practice dribbling, shooting, passing and more, with a potential scrimmage at the end.
Participants will meet at the Hilltop High School Field for 4-5:30 p.m. In the event of poor weather, the activity will be held at the Allan and Jean Millar Centre.
At the Whitecourt and District Library, youth can join Community in Bloom from 6:30-7:30 p.m. for a Paint and Plant event. Attendees will paint a pot, plant a flower and learn tips about plant care. Registration is required.
Thursday (May 7)
At the Allan and Jean Millar Centre, a certified nutrition coach will teach participants how to fuel their bodies and maintain energy on the go. The group will discuss nutritious snacks and make a variety of healthy super smoothies to try.
Friday (May 8)
Youth Week wraps up with a cornhole workshop and tournament, as well as a pizza dinner.
Attendees can learn to play the game from 3:30-5:30 p.m. and an optional tournament runs from 5:30-9 p.m.
Both components take place at the Allan and Jean Millar Centre. The learning portion is drop-in, while registration is required for the tournament.
