Yellowhead County council has awarded the construction contract for the Tipple Park Museum Renovation and Expansion Project to Prologic Construction Ltd. for $1,347,180 (excluding GST), and approved a $100,000 increase to the project budget.
The project includes a renovation and expansion of about 1,100 square feet at the Tipple Park Museum to integrate library services into the building. The front foyer and a programming room will also be shared-use spaces for the two organizations.
According to the county agenda, the project will also see the existing mechanical room modified to accommodate new equipment, the kitchen footprint reduced, the archives room expanded and the artifact display room upgraded to improve accessibility.
Two bids for the project work were received: the chosen proposal from Prologic Construction Ltd., and one from Brenex Building Corporation for $1,406,209 (excluding GST).
Prior to this meeting, the 2026 Interim Budget allocated $1,632,000 to the project. Council approved a $100,000 increase to this budget due to additional anticipated expenses such as design and consultant fees, a 10 per cent construction contingency, as well as furniture, fixtures and equipment for the space. The bid from Prologic Construction Ltd. is for construction costs only, the county notes.
These decisions were approved by county council during its regularly scheduled meeting on March 24.
