A Whitecourt resident is facing trafficking and weapons charges following their arrest by Parkland RCMP.
On March 12, Parkland RCMP members were proactively patrolling Spruce Grove and conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle to do a document check. The driver was arrested on an outstanding warrant and police searched his vehicle, where they allegedly found:
- A loaded pistol
- An unloaded rifle
- Ammunition
- 396.2 grams of cocaine
- 12.8 grams of crack cocaine
- Eight grams of methamphetamine
As a result, a 38-year-old Whitecourt resident faces the following charges:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking (meth)
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose (x2)
- Possession of firearm in motor vehicle (x2)
- Unsafe storage of firearms
The male was remanded into custody and scheduled to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in St Albert on March 16.
