Earlier this week, Barrhead County council received the 2025 Q3 report from the local RCMP and informed the detachment of its desired policing priorities for the year.
According to the report, which outlines Barrhead area crime statistics from October to December last year, overall property crime increased by 26 per cent. A total of 107 incidents were reported in Q3 2025, up from 85 during the same quarter of 2024.
The largest increase was in thefts under $5,000, which more than doubled from 19 incidents the previous year to 39.
There were 15 break-ins reported, up from eight, or by 88 per cent, compared to 2024.
Persons crime rates were the same in 2024 and 2025, with 42 counts reported, while reports of spousal abuse dropped by 54 per cent to six, from 13 in 2024.
In the same meeting, council directed the RCMP to maintain the policing priorities of rural visibility and offender management for the county.
