The 29th Annual Christmas Lite Up in Mayerthorpe takes place this week, and there is a jam-packed evening in store.
A Disney Christmas Parade will take off at 6:30 p.m., and floats will be judged on Main Street. Spectators can gather at the big truck parking lot west of UFA Petroleum.

Afterward, attendees can meet the Edmonton Oilers mascot, Hunter the Lynx, or Olaf, the Grinch and Stitch from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Minnie and Mickey Mouse will be in attendance from 7-8 p.m.
Once the parade is concluded, free Christmas train rides and hayrides will start up and run until 9 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., respectively.
For snacks, Big Waynes Mini treats will have mini donuts on offer from 6-9 p.m., and the RCMP is providing hot chocolate from 7-8:30 p.m.
A bonfire and Christmas music will keep the atmosphere warm until the evening ends at 9:30 p.m.
If that doesn’t suit your fancy, the Mayerthorpe Legion is hosting activities from 4-8 p.m.
Visitors can enjoy free hot dogs and hot chocolate while decorating a holiday card for veterans overseas.
To accommodate the event, Main Street will be closed to traffic from 6-9 p.m. The town asks residents to move vehicles prior to that time.
Lite Up cash draw tickets will also be available for $1 each and the draw will occur on Dec. 12 at 3 p.m.
