A Swan Hills resident has been arrested and charged following an investigation into a break-in reported in early November.
On Nov. 1, Swan Hills RCMP received a report that around 4:15 a.m., a man had allegedly broken into a residence while occupants were asleep.
Police say the man caused damage and threatened the occupants, including threats to kill their dogs. One resident was allegedly assaulted as they attempted to get the man to leave.
RCMP say the man was known to the residents as his son had attended a party at the residence the night before, where an accident had occurred, but was reportedly resolved by those involved.
As a result of an investigation into the incident, 50-year-old Kelly Verne Stenberg, a Swan Hills resident, has been arrested and faces the following charges:
- Break and enter
- Assault
- Uttering threats to kill animals
- Mischief under $5,000
Stenberg was released on conditions and is to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Barrhead on Dec. 23, 2025.
