This week, Oct. 5-11, is Fire Prevention Week, and there’s an open house in Edson to mark the occasion.
This year’s theme is “Charge into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home.”
Officials recommend doing your homework before purchasing anything with a lithium-ion battery. Officials say you should check the packaging and product for a mark from a nationally recognized testing lab, which means it meets official safety standards. Many products sold online or in stores do not.
You can learn more and meet the firefighters protecting Edson at an open house this week on Wednesday, Oct. 8.
From 6-8 p.m., head to the Edson Fire Hall for a free barbecue and refreshments, displays, truck tours and other activities for the kids.
