The Town of Edson has reduced its fire restriction to a fire advisory following recent rainfall and cooler temperatures.
Under the advisory, existing permits will remain valid and new permits will be issued on a case-by-case basis, although no heavy fuel permits will be approved.
Safe wood campfires within fire rings (permitted and approved) are allowed within the Town of Edson. Never leave a fire unattended and ensure it’s completely out when leaving it.
Meantime, use of spark arrestors is highly recommended.
The following are also approved:
- CSA approved or ULC certified gas or propane barbeques used for cooking
- CSA approved or ULC certified Wood Pellet Smokers
- Propane and natural gas fire pits
- Catalytic or infrared-style heaters
- Electric or propane meat smokers
Residents are also reminded to always properly dispose of smoking materials including cannabis, cigarettes, cigars, matches or lighters.
