The Town of Whitecourt has issued a fire restriction for the area due to hot and dry weather conditions.
A restriction is implemented when the fire hazard is high to very high.
Under the restriction, existing burn permits are now cancelled and no new permits will be issued under the order.
Recreational fires, like campfires, are only permitted in a designated fire pit. Officials advise extreme caution, and fires should be supervised and under control at all times.
