Two individuals were charged following a break and enter in Westlock over the weekend.
On Aug. 17 around 8 p.m., Westlock RCMP received a call from Westlock Waste Management stating their alarms and cameras were triggered and showed two people breaking into the complex and entering the Sea-Cans.
RCMP responded and say they found a portion of the wire fence had been cut. The suspects were then located and arrested while allegedly loading items into bike-pulled carts.
As a result, a 30-year-old Barrhead resident and a 43-year-old Westlock resident were arrested and charged with:
- Break and enter
- Theft under $5,000
- Mischief under $5,000
The Barrhead resident, who police say had previously been arrested and released twice in July 2025, was also charged with possession of break in tools and failure to comply with court orders.
Both were brought before a justice of the peace. The Barrhead resident was remanded into custody and is set to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Westlock on Aug. 20, while the Westlock resident was released and is to appear before the same court on Aug. 27.
