Evansburg RCMP have arrested two individuals following an alleged attempt to flee from police in a remote area between Wildwood and Lobstick.
Last week, RCMP say they located a stolen vehicle which then allegedly fled from police into a remote area. The occupants reportedly fled the vehicle, but were apprehended following calls from the public that reported suspicious activity and people near their property.
“We would like to take the time to thank the public for calling in suspicious activity and thus helping to keep our community and their goods safe,” said Cpl. Ryan Darren of the Evansburg RCMP. “Thanks to their help, we were able to apprehend both suspects, with [one] being a known prolific offender who had been released six days earlier after having done similar offences. We are committed to continuing our efforts to hold people accountable for their actions.”
As a result, two Leduc residents were charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, and one faces additional charges of flight from police, failure to comply with release order (two counts) and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
The two were brought before a justice of the peace, where the individual with multiple charges was remanded into custody while the other was released. They are to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Evansburg on Aug. 11, 2025.
