If you’re still figuring out your long weekend plans, the Peers community has plenty to offer at its Gold Dust Daze celebration.
From Friday to Monday, every day offers something different.
A slo-pitch tournament kicks everything off on Friday evening, with 16 teams competing to make it to Monday’s finals.
Then, an action-packed Saturday begins with a pancake breakfast from 8-9:45 a.m. at the Multiplex, followed by a parade at 10 a.m. This year’s parade theme is “Disney comes to Peers.”
“I think it kind of ties in with the fun days and the kids’ days and how this just brings so much fun out for everybody. And Disney is always a fun place to be,” commented Pam Alford, with the Peers Ag Society, on the theme.
Activities and demonstrations, such as horsepulls, a ranch rodeo and mounted shooters will run until 5:30 p.m.
Families can drop the kids off at the babysitter’s and come back for 9 p.m. later that night for an adults-only dance featuring live music by Tyler Babiuk.
Sunday features many of the same events, plus a raft/kayak/canoe race at 11 a.m., a family dance at 7 p.m. and fireworks at dusk.
Monday will see a tube race, duck race and bronco rides added to the schedule.
Throughout the weekend, attendees can enjoy the beer gardens and a local vendor market as well.
