No one was hurt in a fire at the Edson Weyerhaeuser mill on Wednesday.
Edson Fire Department responded around 8:10 p.m., and were quick to act alongside the company’s emergency response team.
The fire was extinguished quickly, minimizing damage and ensuring safety of staff, the department notes.
Two engines, three command units, one rescue unit, one tender, one support unit, and a total of 29 personnel responded.
The cause remains under investigation.
“We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our mutual aid partners, Yellowhead County, and the Town of Hinton, for their critical support in providing aerial units during the response. Their assistance was instrumental in ensuring a safe and effective operation,” the fire department says.
They also thanked Fortis, ATCO, Associated Ambulance, RCMP, and CPOs from the Town of Edson who contributed to the overall safety and coordination of the response.
