Following a public hearing on Tuesday night, Edson town council unanimously passed second and third reading of Bylaw 2327, which redistricts a portion of land from an Urban Reserve district to a Business Industrial Minor district.
The site is located adjacent to 75 Street and Glenwood Drive in the west end of town.
The change should accommodate a potential outdoor storage facility proposed at the site, the details of which will be finalized during the development permit process.
One resident expressed concern about height restrictions, considering a nearby airport, and traffic control in the area. Administration confirmed these factors would be addressed during consideration of the development permit.
On June 15, council also passed second and third reading of Bylaw 2326, which amends the Land Use Bylaw for clarity, fence provisions and discretionary uses.
Administration said these changes are primarily to correct errors, clarify definitions and introduce components that were missed during the initial adoption of Land Use Bylaw 2296 in 2024.
The bylaw was given first reading on June 3 and a public hearing on the matter was held on June 17. The town said no concerns were raised, but second and third readings were delayed until now so a typographical error in the document could be fixed.
