Arnold Viersen has officially been worn in as the MP for the Peace River-Westlock constituency.
On the evening of May 23, he was joined by his wife and children at a swearing in ceremony.
“I want to thank the voters of Peace River – Westlock for the opportunity to represent you again in Ottawa as your Member of Parliament,” said Viersen.
Viersen was first elected to represent the region in 2015, and again in 2019 and 2021. He was re-elected on April 28 with over 76 per cent of the vote.
“I will continue to fight to get our resources to market and for forestry, farming, small businesses and the oil and gas sectors that are the heartbeat of our communities,” he commented. “The Liberal government has caused enormous suffering in the lives of hardworking Albertans over the past ten years and must be held to account.”
The ceremony takes place after the Clerk of the House received the certificate of election for the member from the Chief Elector Officer. The 1867 Constitution Act requires that
every Member subscribe to an oath of allegiance administered by the Clerk of the House before taking their seat in the House of Commons.
