Alberta Health Services announced the Swan Hills Healthcare Centre emergency department will be closed overnight due to a lack of clinical personnel and an inability to secure temporary coverage for the following time periods:
- 7 p.m. Friday, May 9 to 7 a.m. Saturday, May 10
- 7 p.m. Saturday, May 10 to 7 a.m. Sunday, May 11
- 7 p.m. Sunday, May 11 to 7 a.m. Monday, May 12
Patients should call 911 if there is a medical emergency and EMS will remain available to the community to ensure residents have access to the emergency services they need.
Residents should call Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7 for non-emergency health-related questions.
If coverage is found, disruptions may be cancelled as this is a temporary measure.
Residents with concerns can provide feedback through our Patient Relations team. For more information, call 1-855-550-2555.
“We are grateful for the support of surrounding healthcare centres and medical staff and would like to thank the community for its patience and understanding during this time,” as stated in the release.
