The Grande Yellowhead Public School Division (GYPSD) has selected a new Principal for Evansview School.
In a media release Friday, May 2, GYPSD officials announced that Deanna Lang has accepted the position of Principal at Evansview School for the 2025/26 school year.
Officials say Lang has an extensive resume, having taught everything from Kindergarten to Grade 6 as an educator at Wildwood School between 2019 – 2023, and has spent the last two years teaching Kindergarten at Drayton Christian School. She was also an Educational Assistant for the Wild Rose School Division for four years before obtaining her education degree.
Lang says she discovered her passion for education shortly after starting a family and decided to make a career shift from Environmental Science to teaching. In 2019, she obtained a generalist K-12 Bachelor’s in Education with a specialization in science and is currently pursuing a Master of Education through the University of Calgary. Lang also has a graduate certificate in Education Research with a focus on early childhood development from 2022.
Lang says she looks forward to working closely with staff, students, parents and community members to create impactful learning experiences. She says her mission is to inspire students to embrace the joy of learning as well as connecting with Evansview families to cultivate a vibrant educational network.
