With warm, windy and dry conditions in the forecast, officials with the County of Barrhead have issued a fire ban for the county and the Town of Barrhead.
Under this restriction, officials say all permits are now suspended and new permits will not be approved until further notice.
Officials also say the following burning is now prohibited:
- Burn barrels or incinerators.
- Campfires on backcountry or public lands.
- Large burn pits.
- Fireworks and exploding targets.
- Tiki torches.
While campfires in approved pits, propane/gas/wood pellet appliances and indoor wood fires are still permitted, residents are being reminded to exercise extreme caution while burning.
Officials say this fire ban will remain in place until conditions improve or further escalation is required.
Residents with questions or concerns are asked to contact the Barrhead Regional Fire Department at 780-674-2087.
