Officials with the Barrhead Regional Fire Department have issued a Fire Advisory for the County of Barrhead, effective as of 4:00 p.m. on Monday, April 14.
Under this advisory, officials say large burn pits, campfires on backcountry roads or public lands, fireworks and exploding targets are now prohibited. They also say all large burn pit permits have been suspended and new permits will not be issued until further notice.
Officials also say campfires in approved pits, propane or gas-powered appliances, indoor wood fires, open flame oil devices and permitted burn barrels or incinerators are still permitted, however, residents are being reminded to exercise extreme caution while burning.
These restrictions are expected to remain in effect until downgraded or lifted.
Residents with questions or concerns are being asked to contact the Barrhead Regional Fire Department at 780-674-2087 or visit the County of Barrhead website.
