Residents in the Towns of Whitecourt, Edson and Mayerthorpe have plenty of options for Family Day 2025 activities.
In Whitecourt, the Winter Carnival will be taking place from noon to 4:00 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 15, at Festival Park.
Organizers say there will be free hot chocolate, bannock and hotdogs while supplies last, as well as plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy, including:
- The Ice Slide
- The Skating Oval
- Sleigh Rides
- Family Games
- Snow Shoeing and Cross Country Skiing.
There are also a couple of events taking place on Monday, Feb. 17.
Staff at JDA Place say they will be hosting a family skating day from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Admission is free with a Food Bank donation.
Staff with the Vista Theatre say they will be hosting a free showing of Transformers at 2:00 p.m. Admission is free but Food Bank donations are strongly encouraged.

Edson residents are invited to Snow Much Fun Family Day on Monday, Feb. 17, taking place at Griffiths Park Centre, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Organizers say scheduled events include:
- Fireside chats with the Edson Friendship Centre
- Cross Country Skiing
- Snowshoeing
- Skating – Helmets are required
- Outdoor games
- Free hot chocolate and hotdogs – while supplies last
Representatives from the Edson Animal Rescue Society and the Edson Fire Department will also be attending the day’s events.

Finally, Mayerthorpe residents are encouraged to come down to the Mayerthorpe Arena for free family skating and shinny.
- Free Skating – Noon to 1:30 p.m.
- Free Shinny – 1:30 to 3:00 p.m.
