UPDATE: Jan. 30, 2025, 4:00 p.m.
Fox Creek RCMP are updating that they are slowly making progress with vehicles clearing the road.
Upon initial arrival, Fox Creek RCMP say they stopped traffic until they could properly assess the collision and any drivers and passengers for their condition.
Currently, Mounties note there is a southbound lane which is open, and crews are working on a diversion to allow northbound traffic a way through.
Sgt. Brand of the Fox Creek RCMP has a message for semi drivers coming through the area, “Take the time to chain up in these conditions, the hills can be quite slippery and there is no chance of stopping.”
Additionally, Fox Creek RCMP have also had to deal with drivers on their cell phones as they pass emergency responders. Police say one violation ticket has already been given, “And we will do more if we have to,” said Sgt. Brand.
Mounties say violation tickets were given to one semi driver from the collision for following too closely and not driving for the road conditions.
Crews and RCMP are still on scene, so community members are asked to give emergency responders room if they need to move and to continue being patient while they try to get traffic moving.
