Eastlink Park in Whitecourt is set to ring in the New Year with a lineup of free activities for all ages.
Free hot chocolate and hot dogs will be served at 5 p.m. while supplies last.
At 6 p.m., spectators can enjoy a dazzling fireworks display, followed by a torch parade at 7:30 p.m.
Participants are invited to join the parade, or watch the glowing procession from the viewing deck.
During the parade, ski instructor Dawn Garrett says they’ll shut off all the lights on the ski hill so folks can watch the spectacle of a procession of skiers descending the hill with their lit, battery-operated torches.
The celebration kicks off at 11 a.m. with tubing and skiing going from 12 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Garrett says those tubing or skiing require a helmet and a lift pass.
