Faust RCMP have arrested a man after he allegedly fled from a traffic stop last month.
Dimitri Prince, 19, from Joussard, Alta. is facing multiple charges following the incident on Nov. 26.
At approximately 11:46 p.m., Faust RCMP and Lakeshore Regional Police Service conducted a joint traffic stop on the vehicle and during the initial interaction, police reported seeing open alcohol and a clear bag of .223 rifle rounds on the passenger side floor board.
The female driver was then asked to exit the vehicle and while talking with her, police observed what was believed to be a firearm in the backseat.
Lakeshore Regional Police then advised Faust RCMP they saw the firearm and at the same time, a male jumped into the driver’s seat after hiding under the back seat. After attempting to arrest him, the man allegedly grabbed an officer’s arm and sped off dragging both officers.
The vehicle was disabled by police a short distance away and the man attempted to flee on foot. After a search by both RCMP detachments, he was located and taken into custody.
As a result, Prince is facing the following charges:
-
Assault on Police Officer causing bodily harm x2
