Hockey Canada has released the roster of players invited to the Canada West training camp ahead of the 2024 Junior A World Challenge, with a Whitecourt Wolverine making the cut.
Wolverines’ defenceman Xavier Lacoste is one of the 30 players who have been invited to the training camp in Calgary on Dec. 3. and will find out if he made the final cut on Dec. 5.
Whitecourt Wolverines’ Head Coach Sean Martin has also been appointed to the Canada West coaching staff as Assistant Coach.

Scott Salmond, senior vice-president of high performance and hockey operations, says he expects both Canadian teams will be very competitive.
“This is the first time since 2022 we are taking the opportunity to hold a camp before naming our teams for the Junior A World Challenge,” said Salmond. “In partnership with the CJHL, we have identified the top 60 Junior A players in the country. We expect a competitive three days before we narrow our rosters down to the two teams that will proudly represent Canada in Camrose.”
The 2024 Junior A World Challenge is set to kick off on Dec. 9 in Camrose with the Canada West team facing off against the United States team at 4:30 p.m., at Co-Op Place in Wetaskiwin and the Canada East team taking on Sweden at the Drumheller Memorial Arena at 3:00 p.m.
