Whitecourt town council has approved a request from the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 44 to use the Allan and Jean Millar Centre to host a local Remembrance Day service.
Organizers say the fieldhouse will be closed on Nov. 11, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., to accommodate the nearly 600 guests expected to attend the service honouring veterans, active service members and those who did not make it home.
Council unanimously approved the motion to provide the fieldhouse at no charge to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 44.
Remembrance Day Celebrations have been held at the Allan and Jean Millar Centre since 2022.
