Whitecourt town council has approved three applications for the 2024 Vitalization Grant Program.
Empowering Citizens for Health and Opportunities Society (ECHO), The Garage Brewhouse & Pub and The Ritz have all had their applications approved and will be receiving the full $10,000 available through the grant.
ECHO says they will be using the funds to assist with the cost of exterior renovations including faux wood pillars and a combination of faux wood paneling and brick front.
The Garage Brewhouse & Pub says they will be using the funds to assist with the cost of placing stone along the base of the building, corners and sides that face the street as well as repairing stucco and replacing old awnings and signage.
The Ritz says they will use the funds to assist with the costs associated with exterior renovations and their aim to rejuvenate and upgrade the motel to a wooden theme.
The Vitalization Grant Program was established to assist property owners along Highway 43 and in the downtown core with upgrades to the façade of their buildings that are in line with the Town of Whitecourt Vitalization Plan.
Town officials say these applications were received throughout the year and reviewed by Administration based on the grant parameters.
Council unanimously approved the motion to allocate these funds at their meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 20.
