Woodlands County council has thrown its approval behind a pair of borrowing bylaws that will lead to the resurfacing of East and West Mountain Road.
County officials say these bylaws were given first reading by council on June 19, after which the public was notified of the County’s intentions via the Woodlands County website and newspaper advertisements. Officials say no petitions or requests were received during that time, allowing council to move forward with second and third readings.
The resurfacing cost for West Mountain Road is estimated to be $1,850,000, and $2,400,000 for East Mountain Road, for a total cost of $4,250,000. Officials say both projects are planned for 2025 to coincide with provincial highway projects in the area in order to reduce costs for the County.
Woodlands County administration says this project would be funded through debenture loans. The total long-term debt outstanding on Dec. 31, 2023, was $9,476,585. The total repayment requirement for these debentures would be $1,276,33 in 2024.
