A Flood Watch has been put into effect for the Freeman River near Fort Assiniboine.
Officials say due to a low-pressure system that is expected to bring rain to many parts of northern Alberta, there is a possibility that water levels in the Freeman River could rise by as much as 1 metre which could cause flooding at the Freeman River Campground.
Experts say trees and other debris can pile up in culverts and bends in the river, leading to higher increases in water levels, which also increases the likelihood of flooding in the area.
Residents who come across blocked roadways or flooded culverts are being advised to fill out a service request on the Woodlands County Website.
