Officials with Alberta Health Services (AHS) have put a water quality advisory into effect for Iosegun Lake due to elevated levels of fecal bacteria present in the water following testing of the water at the beach location.
AHS officials are advising Fox Creek and Iosegun Lake residents not to swim or wade in the water at the beach, saying contact with the water can cause irritation to skin, eyes and ears and ingesting water may lead to gastrointestinal illness.
Officials are also taking this opportunity to remind everyone not to drink or cook with untreated water directly from any lake or reservoir, saying fecal bacteria and other water-borne organisms may cause vomiting and diarrhea.
AHS says Environmental Public Health Officers will continue to monitor the water at Iosegun Lake, but this advisory will remain in effect until further notice.
