Officials with Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) have issued a Rainfall Warning for the afternoon of Wednesday, June 26, for Woodlands County and area, including Whitecourt, Edson, Fox Creek and Swan Hills.
ECCC says 50 to 70 mm of rain is expected to fall with showers starting on Wednesday afternoon and lasting until Thursday morning.
Rainfall Warnings are issued by ECCC when significant rainfall is expected. Experts say heavy downpours can cause water to pool on roadways as well as flash floods and localized flooding of low-lying areas.
