Edson town council has selected Councillor Ed Moore to assume the role of Deputy Mayor for the upcoming July 1, 2024, to Feb. 28, 2025 term.
According to officials, the role of deputy mayor for Edson town council is decided by a deputy mayor rotation schedule. At the Organization Meeting held on Oct. 17, 2023, council approved a motion to move from a four-month term rotation to an eight-month term rotation schedule, with councillors having the option to decline their terms starting with the current deputy mayor, Councillor Gean Chouinard whose term is set to end on June 30.
Mayor Kevin Zahara thanked the outgoing deputy mayor for his service during his term.
“I would like to personally thank Councillor Chouinard for filling this role for the last eight months,” says Zahara. “Any event I couldn’t be at he was more than willing to [attend] and actually tried to kick me out of a couple events, so I do appreciate you doing that Councillor Chouinard, and serving in that role.”
The motion to appoint Councillor Ed Moore to the position of deputy mayor effective as of July 1, was passed unanimously.
